The pocket card
Fifty hands on the clock, eighty percent. Then the card goes in your pocket and you go play.
The exam is fifty hands against a table of your choice on the ten-second clock, eighty percent agreement with the coach. Pass it and the pocket card is yours to print: the five sentences, the colours, the first-bet rule for four and five cards, the facing-a-bet rule, the worst-case count and the river arithmetic, on one side of one card.
Then go play. Come back to the trainer the day after a night that went wrong, with the hand that did it, and play it again.
Above the board is the nuts and below it loses; two of a suit cut it down; a paired board kills it.
Today's hand on the table
Today you play. The trainer is below, with the table you choose and the 10-second clock.
That is your five free hands for today.
