ABomb Pot Coach
Week 3. Facing bets · day 21 of 30

What a river pot bet says

It means one of two things. Decide which before you call.

A pot-sized bet on the river says either "I have you on both boards and want the most" or "I am strong on one board and weak on the other, give up so I take it all". Before calling, ask which one the hand supports. A player who checked the flop, called the turn and now pots the river has one board. A player who bet every street may have both.

If it is one board and yours is the other, calling wins half and the bet comes back; the call is right whenever your board is likely best. If it is both boards, your one strong board wins you half the pot back for a full price, which is the quartering arithmetic from day eighteen. Twenty river spots today, and the pass mark goes up.

A nut straight on one board: call, never raise.
